Pressure Sensors — Which Sensor

Pressure sensors convert mechanical pressure into a standardized electrical signal, mostly via piezoresistive or ceramic-capacitive cells. They measure liquids, gases, and steam in hydraulic circuits, pneumatic lines, process plants, and machine tools. Output is read out either as analog signal or via switching contacts.

The bulk of the assortment is built around two supply-voltage classes: units rated 9 …30 VDC for general 24 V industrial wiring, and units rated 14 …30 VDC for higher-threshold electronics. Niche variants cover 10.8 …30 VDC and 12 …30 VDC.

Ambient ratings cluster at -30 …+85 °C for indoor machinery and at -40 …+85 °C for outdoor or cold-storage installs, with smaller groups at -25 …+85 °C. For wetted-side exposure, models qualified for -40 …+135 °C media handle CIP cycles and hot oil; lower-spec process variants run at -30 …+135 °C or -15 …+135 °C.

Manufacturer share is dominated by Turck and IPF. Price tiers are tightly grouped: typical entries sit at 69 EUR, 83 EUR, and 87 EUR, while specialized units reach into the 452 to 835 EUR bracket.

Compact electronics dominate the housings, with weights of 20 g, 25 g, and 28 g covering most M12-connector pressure transmitters; heavier versions at 68 g carry display electronics or stainless process fittings. Special builds for hygienic and high-temperature media are concentrated in the upper weight half above 126 g.
